The Challenge Traffic Engineers Face
Will Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CV/AVs) mitigate the car accidents caused by human error?
Will congestion patterns change with the adoption of CV/AVs?
Will AVs change the capacity requirements on our roadways?
How will traffic be optimized both for AVs and non-autonomous vehicles?
To what extent will the city infrastructure need to be upgraded?
New transportation challenges are emerging every day.
Traffic professionals need to prepare for the future by harnessing the power of CV/AV technologies. Inspired by the challenges, Rhythm has developed a Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication system that works with virtually any controller type.
A Smarter Way to Manage Traffic
- Achieving DSRC and V2I capabilities with any controller type
- Integrating with Rhythm’s In|Sync system to provide adaptive signal optimization in real-time
- Enabling traffic signal preemption or priority using a future-proof Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) Technology
- Eliminating transition after preemption thanks to In|Sync’s digital architecture
How the technology works?
In|Connect is a Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology. It enables vehicles to “talk” to the traffic signal infrastructure. This happens over Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC).
DSRC is in the foundation of most Connected Vehicle traffic solutions technologies.
In|Connect enables the development of many CV/AV applications. Take emergency vehicle preemption, for instance.
With In|Connect, the CV/AV vehicles send and receive the following data:
Why In|Connect?
Improve Emergency Vehicle Response Times
- Forward collision warning messages based on CV technology can revolutionize safety.
- Speed harmonization and car platooning applications have the potential to put an end to speeding and reduce travel times.
- Cost savings due to a reduction in fuel consumption as well as fewer crashes and property damage could reach billions of dollars.
- The cuts in CO2 emissions will bring significant environmental and public health benefits.
