How the technology works?

 
 

In|Connect is a Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology. It enables vehicles to “talk” to the traffic signal infrastructure. This happens over Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC). 

DSRC is in the foundation of most Connected Vehicle traffic solutions technologies.

In|Connect enables the development of many CV/AV applications. Take emergency vehicle preemption, for instance.

With In|Connect, the CV/AV vehicles send and receive the following data:

Basic Safety Message (BSM)
Informs about the vehicle’s coordinates, speed, brakes’ condition, and other details

Signal Phase and Timing (SPaT)
Provides the current signal phase and the time between tunnels (TBT)

Geographical Map details (MAP)
Gives intersection and roadway lane geometry data

Signal Request Message (SRM)
Used by authorized vehicles to request preemption or priority
 
In|Connect then processes and passes the information on to In|Sync and the controller. Knowing the priority vehicle’s exact speed, lane, destination, and all other relevant details, In|Sync optimizes the traffic signals in real-time. The vehicle crosses the intersection safely, ultimately improving its response time.
